Blender 2.48 released!

October 16, 2008

Blender 2.48 is released! Blender is an excellent 3D modeling, UV mapping, rigging, animating, and rendering program that is open source and completely free!

Check out the BlenderNation article about the new version of Blender!

Download Blender 2.48 now!

NOTE: This version of Blender has two dependencies. The installer will let you know what they are. Downloading and installing these dependencies (needed third-party apps that help create the need environment for the program to run) is not that hard to figure out.

God bless and looking forward to the days ahead! It’s really late, so I better hit the hay.

…trying to make a game in Blender… I have had a desire to make games for a long time… I abandoned that desire thinking gaming wasn’t good. However, if I am careful with my time, I would still love to create some computer games.

Hopefully the Minosa Films group will rehearse (run through the script of) “Is This Love?” this Sunday after church. Currently I plan to rehearse the film and prepare it as needed for production. It is very tempting to just say “Hey, who cares, let’s film now” when the script is not film-worthy yet. Like a ship that is not prepared for the ocean, our film will sink. So, we must prepare.

Tentative plan:

  • Brief script rehearsals (group)
  • Find location – if current location will not work (banor, others)
  • Pray about it

When script has gone through revisions and is film-worthy, we will then commence a 2 day schedule:

  1. Day 1: Take cast and crew to location.  Walk through scenes and familiarize the actors and crew with the location: when and where events take place in the film
  2. Day 2: Shoot film

By the time the production is film-worthy and ready to shoot, we will have gone through a number of brief rehearsals, script revisions, blocking, acting emotions, etc., so that when we film we are ready, with no wrinkles or big problems to iron out on location (hopefully.)

Well, God bless and best wishes,

May you be guided on the road ahead,
And may we all find what we are looking for,

Never give up,

Talked with Pastor about “Is This Love?”

October 15, 2008

Talked to my pastor some about “Is This Love?” I now have some extra stamina and idea on what to do, which is great! Thanks, Pastor! To do: brief rehearsals (~15mins) after church (running through the script,) a two-day schedule (getting used to the location on day one and shooting on day two,) and some more things.

Watched an episode of an old TV show called “The Rockford Files.” The episode is called “Foul On The First Play.” It was enjoyable. 😉 (There is one bad word in it… at least?)

Wrote a review for Fireproof (see the official site) for StreetSteeple.com this morning. Hopefully that will get online soon. Will post a link. Completed a design for poster that will be at a booth at Bridge Day, advertising that Borders (a large book company) will be giving 10% of sales on Bridge Day to the New River Youth Symphony and Chorus… I also played some Atom’o’run (X-Mas version) on Fedora 8 today… that was fun. 🙂 A very simple game that is surprisingly enticing.

Hopefully we will be rehearsing the “Is This Love?” script soon. 😉

More later?
God bless,
ciao,

P.S. Still looking forward to NaNoWriMo!

Not sure what to write…

September 28, 2008

Not sure what to write, so here’s some news:

I’m now part of the Morevna Project team. I don’t know all that I’ll be contributing at this point, but I definitely want to get better at my manga (anime) drawing!
The Morevna Project wiki on Synfig.org

Still haven’t resolved all my software (editing) issues. I have been sidetracked on that. Also have a hardware need.

I hope to edit a film some friends and I worked on together. It’s not a Minosa Films production per se, but it will really help me to learn my editing and test out whether or not I really can or cannot edit (at least with this workflow…) And besides that, I will get part one of a film done, gain skills, and make my friends really happy! ;D

Production Plan:

Title Status Scheduled Shoot About
Is This Love? WIP N/A A (very) short film depicting the true sacrifice of love
Family First >Some work has been done N/A A lovely drama short film about a father/daughter turmoil and resolution
Promo
WIP Optional moon shot done
Minosa Films’ very own promotion video!

Hope to get this all worked out… glad for possibilities, wishing for resolutions…

Also, we now have a production forum of sorts.  Check it out here.

Create an account and start posting!  Some sections in this category (of the forum) may eventually be locked for Minosa Films users only – that is, those who I give the password to.

Aaanyhow, thanks for all, and your prayers especially,

We’re gonna make it together!

Not sure what’s ahead

August 25, 2008

As the days pass by and progress is made in various areas, one may wonder what happened to Minosa Films – like, where are the films?!

Well, I suppose everything has a journey.  And each journey has it’s pilgrims, and once in a while, you run across a hero.  Well, I am a pilgrim.  And I need to do my part, and my part is not only the technical side of making sure we have a camcorder that will work, but scripts to make movies from.  So, I need to write scripts.  We have one script for a film titled “Is This Love?”, and I plan to make revisions upon it (basically add to/and or rewrite it.)  I think it would be wise to have more than one script on hand, so, I need to write! 😉

Recently I found out about a neat project called Morevna Project.  Check it out here: morevnaproject.org.  I am considering contributing to it.  From the website:

The main goal of Morevna Project is creation of full-lengthened anime movie, utilizing Open Source software only.

Other goals:

  • Promotion of Open Source software and its ideology.
  • Testing and improving existing Open Source products by giving appropriated feedback to developers and community.
  • Validate Open Source tools as suitable for creation of professional good-looking animation.
  • Provide content for other artists to learn from or to re-use, including documentation and tutorials

Main production tools:

Also, check out this neat song by Staffan Svahn, called Red Hills.

And now back to what I need to do.  God bless!
