Blender 2.47 released!

August 24, 2008

Yep, it’s true!  The new version of Blender is now available! Blender 2.47!  However, don’t expect tons of new features, because this release is a bug fix release. The new splash screen is somewhat humerous, once again featuring a screenshot from BBB (Big Buck Bunny) but this time with the butterfly squashed by an apple.  I think the idea is that they killed some bugs in the program. ;D

Looking into what to do in the future with my current camcorder.  The issues that have arrisen with this particular model have caused too many problems for me to be satisfied.  I would love a great camera someday, but this one may not be it.  The .tod video container file and it being in HD two hurdles I am not overcoming effeciently yet, and it would be a simple, sweet solution to go with an SD DV MiniDV camcorder, though I will likely miss my current camcorder dearly.  ;(

I hope your day goes well, may God bless you dearly as you walk the path of life, and may you find Him.

I so dearly hope to make some beautiful animations, and I also hope that all our live action films will work out… sorry for how it’s all turning out, guys… perhaps I will write some scripts, because “scripts are half the film”, and then when the whole technical camcorder issue is worked out, we will be ready.

Thanks a lot, God bless,

Thanks for listening,

-b

  1. Have you considered switching to Blender for video editing? I have been working on a project called BlenderAVC which is aimed at making it easy (and efficient) to use HDV or AVC video in the Blender Video Sequenced. See http://www.openfilmmaking.com/blenderavc/ if you are interested.

  2. Rob Scott,

I have tried Blender’s VSE a little, but have had trouble with the audio/video not being equal in length. If you have solutions for this problem, that would be great.

When I tried to visit the link you supplied, I recieved this error:

A database query syntax error has occurred. This may indicate a bug in the software. The last attempted database query was:

    (SQL query hidden)

from within function “OutputPage::addCategoryLinks”. MySQL returned error “1146: Table ‘openfilm_wiki.ofwiki_page_props’ doesn’t exist (db.openfilmmaking.com)”.

Thank you for your help and suggestions! Much appreciated.

    Benjamin Bailey

  3. Wow, you’re quick! I was just fixing my site 🙂

  4. Using Blender’s built-in support for HD formats, I had the same trouble with video/audio matching, but I did solve the problem by using AviSynth scripts to process the video.

Feel free to send me an e-mail (rob at scott clan dot cc) and I’ll be happy to help you get it going.

  5. Sorry to leave so many comments! 🙂

I am just prepping to release version 0.3 of my BlenderAVC project. Don’t try to use it until I get that uploaded. Go ahead and e-mail me (see address in previous post) and I’ll let you know when it’s ready.

  6. Many comments are welcome!

    K. Gotcha.

Alright. I sent an e-mail to the address you supplied and I hope it goes through.

BTW, are you planning on integrating the BlenderAVC project’s improvements into the official releases of Blender? I hope so. Having the two projects separate would not be as benificial IMHO.

    Thanks and God bless

  7. I have seen some of the BlenderAVC website (and BunnyHopHop workflow) now. I noticed the BunnyHopHop workflow was tested on JVC Everio GZ-HD7 as well? Hmmm… cool.

  8. Got your e-mail! We can continue the conversation there.

  9. Good! Alright, will do.

  10. Benjamin, I got your e-mail. Did you get my response?

  11. FYI, I just released version 0.4 of BlenderAVC — the download link is on this page: http://www.openfilmmaking.com/wiki/index.php?title=BlenderAVC
